The PSA debate continues …

The divisions within the medical community about the value of PSA in identifying patients with prostate cancer received a new airing today in the Chicago Sun-Times. While such articles are appropriate, they do not make it any easier for the average man to understand whether he should or shouldn’t be having regular tests to know what his risk is for prostate cancer. We desperately need better guidance from the medical community about how to assess risk for prostate cancer. Such guidance will only come if we can find better ways to test for high-risk and low-risk disease.
