UroToday has just published a whole series of reports from the annual end-of-year meeting of the Society for Urologic Oncology. Some of these reports will be of interest to the more knowledgeable prostate cancer patients and advocates.
You need to be registered with UroToday to read these articles. However, among the more interesting are the following:
- Dr. Peter Scardino on outcomes research in prostate surgery, in which he emphasizes the importance of the clinical result (as opposed to the technique being used)
- A mini-symposium on focal therapy, with an introduction by Scardino
- Dr. William Catalona on genetic screening for prostate cancer
- Dr. Ian Thompson on finasteride and the management of men at high-risk for prostate cancer
- Dr. Louis Potters on long-term outcomes following brachytherapy, and
- Dr. Anthony Zeitman on proton beam radiotherapy
Several other reports from this symposium on the UroToday web site deal with more technical issues.
