The actual number of prostate cancer diagnoses in the USA in 2005 (the latest year for which such numbers are available) has been announced by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as 142.4 per 100,000 at risk. This number should be compared to a projected number of prostate cancer diagnoses of 232,090 for 2005 originally estimated by the American Cancer Society.
