We understand over 2,000 men turned out in Indianapolis on Saturday for the Unite to Fight Against Prostate Cancer 5 k Run/Walk. A prostate cancer risk service for PSA testing was also available at the event. In addition, some 8,000 people turned out on Saturday in St. Louis for Major League Baseball’s First All-Star Fun Run, focused on prostate and breast cancer awareness.
This type of local visibility is critical to prostate cancer awareness, but we still need to turn a significant number of these runners and walkers into real advocates who will call their legislators to ask for specific legislation that benefits prostate cancer awareness and prostate cancer research.
The Indianapolis Star has photos of participants in Indianapolis on their web site.
