Media reports are now telling us that the Mayo Clinic will be opening not just one but two new proton beam radiation therapy (PBRT) centers — at a total cost of $370 million.

According to an article originally published in the Gray Sheet last week and in OncologySTAT today, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan has formally asked the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to issue a national non-coverage decision for proton therapy in treating prostate cancer.
