INTRODUCTION
Prostate cancer clinicians and researchers at a consortium of leading, U.S.-based, prostate cancer centers are working with Prostate Cancer International to get feedback from prostate cancer patients and their spouses/partners about AN INITIAL DRAFT of a Web-based prostate cancer information and guidance system that will, in time, be able to do the following:
- Help patients to track key data — such as age, PSA levels, clinical and pathological stage, Gleason grade, time since treatment, comorbidities (smoking history, hypertension, etc.) over time
- Use these data to be able to monitor each specific patient’s progress and compare how he is doing to the outcomes of other, very similar patients
- Offer the patient guidance as to how he can expect to do in the future (based on the outcomes of other, similar men)
- Suggest specific “next steps” for the patient when appropriate.
BUT … please understand that you will be looking at a FORMAT at the present time. It is not possible for you to enter and review personally accurate data YET!
TAKING THE SURVEY
If you click through to the first page of this survey, you will be
- “Walked through” a series of 10 pages
- Asked to answer specific questions about the “sample information” on these pages, and
- Be given the important opportunity to add specific and general comments along the way and at the end of the survey.
The developers have two VERY important goals at this point in time:
- The first is to try and make sure that the information that can be offered to patients and their family members through this system is straightforward and understandable.
- The second is to get specific feedback on this information currently presented, including your views on whether it could be presented differently or whether anything is missing. Please don’t be shy, we really do want detailed patient input.
