Participants needed for study of prostate cancer web sites

Holly Witteman, a doctoral fellow at the University of Toronto in Canada, is conducting research on prostate cancer web sites, and is seeking people to participate in a detailed survey about several currently existing sites.

The homepage for the study is at http://porpus.org.

According to Ms Witteman, “The main purpose of this project is to develop some new ways to help people more easily find useful and personally relevant information about prostate cancer on the Web.

“Participation in this study would involve answering a two-part online survey which will take approximately 90 minutes total and [can] be conducted at your convenience. It can be completed all at once or in parts, whichever you prefer. The survey will ask you questions about yourself, your experiences with prostate cancer, your health, and your opinions of specific Websites about prostate cancer.

“Please note that all of the information obtained throughout the study is strictly confidential. You will not be personally identified in any publications or presentations based on this study. You may refuse to
answer any questions or withdraw from the study at any time.”

If you wish to receive them, Ms. Witteman will send you copies of all publications that result from the study. If you are interested in participating in the study, please visit http://porpus.org for more information. If you have any questions about this study, please do not hesitate to e-mail Ms. Witteman directly.
