Safeway raises $10 million for prostate cancer research in June

The “New” Prostate Cancer InfoLink would like to congratulate Safeway, its staff, and its customers for their efforts to raise money for prostate cancer research over the past month.

According to a media release from the supermarket chain issued on Monday, Safeway managed to raise just under $10.1 million dollars for prostate cancer research in June this year. These funds are being donated, as they have been for the past decade, to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, to support ongoing and future research into such issues as the development of new drugs and new biomarkers.

In addition to the company’s efforts to support prostate cancer research, Safeway is also a major corporate supporter of breast cancer research. For the benefit of our readers outside North America, Safeway is one of the largest supermarket chains in the USA and Canada, and a Fortune 100 company.

Now if we could just get the other 99 Fortune 100 companies to help too …
