For those who like to know what is happening out on the farther reaches of cancer research, there is an interesting article by George Johnson in today’s New York Times. It discusses new thinking about how the DNA carried by humans may profoundly effect the development of cancers in selected groups of people.
Most cancer research has been based, over the past decade, on the Hanahan-Weinberg model of cancer development and spread. However, new research is starting to suggest that that model may need modification, at least as regards the way some cancers are triggered and spread over time.
