There was a long story on Bloomberg.com yesterday about J. R. “Pitt” Hyde and why he decided to invest much of his considerable fortune in the start-up company GTx, Inc.
The story starts with Mr. Hyde’s diagnosis with prostate cancer in his early 50s — 15 years ago — and his subsequent decision to work with his urologist, Mitch Steiner, to start a new pharmaceutical company focused on the development of drugs for the treatment of prostate cancer and elated clinical conditions.
