I am 63 and I have been having PSA checks for the last 10 years. Suddenly, last year, my psa jumped from 4.2 to 6.8. My GP sent me to a urologist and after a biopsy found I had cancer.
About 4 months ago, I had surgery for the cancer which was found to involve about 60% of the prostate. My psa is now -2 but I do have incontinence which is slowly getting better. I’m also told that once you have radiation and it doesn’t work you can not have the operation so you are left with the cancer. The PSA check worked for me
