A number of readers will probably be interested in reading at least part of an interview with Dr. Susan Slovin of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center that has just been published on the CancerNetwork web site.
Dr. Slovin will be chairing an educational update session here in Chicago at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clincial Oncology. The session is specifically on the current and potential roles of immunotherapy in the management of genitourinary cancers — prostate cancer specifically included. Here is a link to the full interview. The prostate cancer-specific information is in the second half of the interview. Dr. Slovin talks about a variety of ongoing clinical trials in specific subsets of patients, but she makes the point that we are still very early in the game when it comes to understanding the future potential of immunotherapies in prostate cancer.
