TNPCIL notes death of Dr. Peter Grimm in Seattle

The “New” Prostate Cancer InfoLink notes the death, on February 20, 2016, of Peter Douglas Grimm, DO, who — with his now retired partner John Blasko, MD —  brought brachytherapy to America in the 1980s and made it one of the standard, first-line treatment options for management of localized prostate cancer.

Dr. Grimm was also a founder of the Seattle Prostate Institute and later the Prostate Cancer Treatment Center of Seattle. He had treated several thousand prostate cancer patients over the past 30 years, and was a key individual in the training of many urologists and radiation oncologists who wanted to learn how to carry out brachytherapy.

  1. Sad to hear. I know that he wasn’t very old at all. Maybe 60 when I met him? May he rest in peace.
