Jan Manarite joins Prostate Cancer International as Executive VP


Prostate Cancer International is extremely pleased to announce that we have contracted with Jan Manarite to become our first, full-time staff member, as Executive Vice President. In that role, over the next few months, she will be

  • Planning and coordinating a one-day conference for prostate cancer patients and caregivers in Punta Gorda, Florida, scheduled for March 4, 2017 — stay tuned for details.
  • Contributing to our on-line services on The “New” Prostate Cancer InfoLink and our Social Network
  • Working to develop a free telephone “helpline” service here in the US for patients and their family members
  • Looking into other new opportunities for Prostate Cancer International to expand its range of services
  • Representing Prostate Cancer International at appropriate clinical and patient meetings
  • Taking responsibility for fundraising to underwrite the new services that we hope to be able to provide and are currently exploring

For those who don’t know Jan, here’s a little background:

  • janFrom 2000 to 2013 she was the caregiver for her late husband, Dominic Manarite, who passed away in April 2013 after a 13-year-long journey with metastatic prostate cancer.
  • During much of this time frame, Jan held varied positions with the Prostate Cancer Research Institute (PCRI), working with the late Harry Pinchot and others to provide a range of support and advocacy services for prostate cancer patients and their family members.
  • In 2015 Jan was recognized by WGCU Public Media, in partnership with the Southwest Florida Community Foundation and the Women’s Fund of Southwest Florida, as one of the 2015 MAKERS: Women Who Make Southwest Florida — an award of which she is justly very proud.
  • Most recently she had worked for a while with Prostate Advocates Aiding Choices in Treatments (PAACT), helping them to update their web site, including a new Step by Step online tool for newly diagnosed prostate cancer patients.

For those who do know Jan, you know she will continue her dedication to finding every way she can to support and assist patients and their family members wherever they may be. … So please welcome her aboard.

  3. Congratulations Jan. It is well deserved and clearly your role and advocacy has helped many of us. I am now entering my 17th year with the battle and I am indebted for your help and compassion.
