Apparently Ferring Pharmaceuticals has finally been able to get Firmagon® approved as the new trade (brand) name for degarelix (their new LHRH antagonist) here in the USA. This is the same brand name as is used in Europe. Who knows why it took so long! The media release doesn’t say.

UK Survey Rates Prostate Cancer Treatment Experience

Over the past couple of years, Baker and colleagues at the University of Leicester in England have developed and “operationalized” what appears to be a relatively sophisticated survey system to rate patient and spouse/partner/caregiver experiences from initial assessment of risk for prostate cancer through post-treatment follow-up. Prostate cancer and quality of care: a major analysis

Spencer et al. have evaluated the quality of cancer care received by patients diagnosed with prostate cancer based on nationally representative samples. The “New” Prostate Cancer InfoLink considers this paper to be a critically important publication, defining issues that need to be addressed by hospitals, by the American Urological Association, and by the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology.
